License Your Dog
Dog Licenses
By law, all dogs four months of age and older must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed annually. A one-year license, regularly $25.00, is just $14.00 when you adopt a dog from Santa Barbara Humane. Licenses can be valid for one to three years, depending on vaccinations.
Dog licenses may be purchased at either of the Santa Barbara or Santa Maria campuses during adoption, vaccination, or spay/neuter services. Call 805-964-4777 to schedule an appointment.
Santa Barbara County Residents
You must have a current rabies certificate, proof of spay or neuter, and reside in unincorporated Santa Barbara County, Goleta, Buellton, Santa Ynez, Solvang, Lompoc, or Santa Maria. License applications are available at sbcanimalservices.org
City of Santa Barbara Residents
You must have a current rabies certificate, proof of spay or neuter, and reside in the city of Santa Barbara. License applications are available at Santa Barbara City Hall or by visiting petdata.com.

Santa Barbara Humane supports Santa Barbara County Animal Services dog licensing because:
- Dog License revenue supports Santa Barbara County Animal Services’ 24-hour-a-day emergency animal rescue efforts.
- Found pets wearing license tags can be quickly reunited with their owners, oftentimes without being impounded at a shelter.
- Rabies continues to be a deadly virus and a Dog License is proof that your dog is vaccinated. If your dog comes into contact with a wild animal, a current rabies vaccination may allow him/her to be quarantined at home instead of a shelter.
